Alice Rogers Barbour Wilson passed away in Greensboro on Sunday, April 12, 2015. She was born in Johnston County on November 14, 1916 a daughter of the late Julian Dwight Barbour and Gladys Rogers Barbour.
Alice was raised in Clayton and moved to Raleigh in 1940 where she made her home until 2008 when she moved to Wellspring in Greensboro. She graduated from Randolph Macon Women’s College with a BA in Biology. Alice was a member of Edenton Street Methodist Church in Raleigh; she was docent at North Carolina Museum of Art, a member of the Jr. Women’s club, and the Carolina Country Club. Alice enjoyed bridge, needlepoint, games, knitting and reading.
Along with her parents Alice was predeceased by her husband Dr. Frank Wilson Jr, and her sister Betty Barbour Bowman.
She leaves behind her two children: Alice Wilson Newell and husband Charles of Greensboro, her son Gordon Frank Wilson and wife Sue of Mathews; 5 grandchildren: Adam Christopher Newell, James Grayson Newell, Charles Ansell Newell III, Emily Elizabeth Wilson-Perry and husband Jonathan, Frank Geddie Wilson and wife Casey, and Douglas Alexander Wilson, 5 great grandchildren: Kassidy, Ramona, Addison, Carter, and Astrid; and her sister Carey Rogers Barbour of Wellspring.
A graveside service will be held 11 am Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
