On April 1st 2023, Shirley Ann Senter, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 97 at Bay Path Nursing Home in Duxbury, MA. Shirley was born in Quincy, Mass. on December 7, 1925 and lived in Quincy for 63 years before moving to Rockland, and finally to Duxbury in 2016.
Shirley attended North Quincy High School and graduated in 1943. She worked as a bookkeeper for Griphoist, Inc. of Milton and Westwood for many years before retiring in 2004. She was a life-long member of First Church of Christ, Scientists, first in Quincy, then Rockland and Duxbury, holding many leadership roles as well as volunteering at the local Reading Rooms. Shirley was also an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Arthur I. Senter, her daughter, Carol Senter, her son-in-law, Glen Bruso, and grandson, Petty Officer First Class William Bruso, ET1 USN. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Bruso and granddaughter Carly Bruso of Latham, NY; her daughter Gail McGrath and son-in-law Brett of Pembroke, MA; granddaughter Katelyn McGrath and great granddaughter MacKenzie of Pembroke, MA; granddaughter Jessica McGrath and her great grand-daughters Amyiah and Brelyn of Middleboro, MA; daughter Nancy Senter and granddaughter April Whisman and great grandson Caleb; grandson Sean Whisman, great grandchildren Alicia, Brandon, Roland and Brennan all of Jacksonville, FL.
A private graveside service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
