Meena (Barbara) Garfinkel

Meena (Barbara) Garfinkel was born on March 3, 1946 in Georgetown, Guyana, South America and migrated to the United States in 1982. She was the eldest of four siblings to parents, the late Bissoon and Keloni Sohun of Blygezight Gardens, Georgetown, Guyana and is survived by her brother, Sohan and sisters, Gail and Indy, and brother-in-law, Greg. Meena did not have any children of her own but was always surrounded by the children of her friends and relatives who absolutely adored her.

Meena's laughter and zest for life was contagious and she was a fun-loving person who enjoyed cooking, music, dancing and spending time with friends and family. Meena had volumes and volumes of cookbooks and loved dabbling in various international cuisines.

Meena loved her religion as a born Hindu especially singing and listening to bhajans and offering prayers in the form of puja. She was loved by so many and will be missed immensely. To know Meena, was to love her.

A visitation for Meena will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at R. Stutzmann & Son, 224 39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428. A cremation will occur Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at St. Michael's Crematory, 72-02 Astoria Boulevard S, East Elmhurst, NY 11370. A religious service will occur Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, 224 39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428.
