Joan was born in South Ozone Park on May 5, 1926.
She met Joseph Mazza at Richmond Hill High School in 1941. He was the love of her life and she was his. Their love story is the foundation of our family.
Joan Graduated Queens College. Her deep sense of patriotism was part of her everyday life as she waited for Joe to return from the war. They married on August 4, 1946.
They built their forever home in Bellerose and moved in January 1, 1949. She loved and raised her family in “The House That Love Built”. She happily and lovingly lived there until December 24, 2022.
Joan raised her 4 Children and 5 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren and welcomed all our friends and family into her home. She loved being part of Joe’s extended family of Aunts and Uncles and Nieces and Nephews and Cousins. It was home to all of them where we celebrated holidays and birthdays and made family memories.
In 1966, Joan devoted herself to caring for her youngest son, John Joseph Mazza. She was a gentle, loving trail blazer for her brain-injured son and our family. She inspired the entire Parish of St Gregory’s and our neighbors to help us, help John.
Joan’s legacy is love. Love for her country. Love for her faith. Love for her home. Love for her husband. Love for her family.
