Phyllis’ professional life was marked by her versatile roles, from managing responsibilities as a librarian and bus driver for the school district in Los Alamos, New Mexico, to waitressing in various locations including Arizona, the Bahamas, and Colorado. Her work ethic and ability to connect with people from all walks of life were truly commendable.
A woman of many interests, Phyllis was an avid painter, bead worker, and quilter. She cherished the outdoors and spent countless memorable moments camping, hiking, and fishing with her family. Her love for the Crested Butte’s Wildflower Festival, which she attended annually with her daughter Gayla, was a highlight of each year.
Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her four children, Gayla (Juan) Gallegos, Greg Ochsner, Glenna (John) Moore, and daughter-in-law Patti Grow. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Dee, Kevin, Juan Jr., Joleigh, John Moore, Samanta, and Latonya, as well as her great-grandchildren Rebekah, Kaitlin, Alyssa, Autumn, Hunter, Colton, Ashley, Sadie, Levi, Alaska, Layla, and Summit. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bruno, her brothers Alley and Leslie, and her sister Evelyn.
A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at The Thunderbird Inn, Florissant, Colorado on November 16, 2024 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her memory.
Phyllis’ warm smile, warm hugs, and the cherished memories shared will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
