Omar J. Lown, born May 30, 1924 passed away on July 8, 2016. Survived by his wife Violet Mae Lown (Krizman); children, Craig (Carmen) Lown, Colorado Springs, CO, Gary (Lynn) Lown, Pueblo, CO, Terry Lown, Pueblo, CO, Tracy Lown, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Candice Lown, San Antonio, TX, Ryan (Skye) Lown, Sacramento, CA, Elizabeth (Kurt) Lown Krummel, Nashville, TN, Jeffrey Lown, Pueblo, CO, William Lown, Scottsdale, AZ; great-grandchildren, Royce, Roger, Cortland, Nathan and Roxy. Omar played Major League Baseball and was a professional pitcher and member of MLB Player’s Association until 1963 then went to work for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1983. “A World War II Veteran, a Purple Heart recipient, a professional pitcher in the MLB, and a foundation of the Lown Baseball Family, I think my grandpa summed it up pretty well in his interview with Woody Paige of the Denver Post.
