Norma “Pauline” Genova, 92, formerly of Pueblo, passed away on August 9, 2013, in Littleton, CO. She was born on February 19, 1921, to Oris and Marion Taylor in Stockton, Missouri. As a young girl her family moved to Rocky Ford, CO, where she attended and graduated from Rocky Ford High School. Pauline enrolled as an Army Cadet at the Minnequa School of Nursing, and received her nursing degree in 1945. She started her nursing career at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital in Pueblo. With the birth of her children, Pauline transitioned from being the head nurse of the G-Ward at the hospital; and began working with doctors in their medical offices, which allowed her more time with her family. Pauline was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and served it faithfully in many different roles as Clerk of the Session, Elder, Deacon, Synod of the Rocky Mountains, Circle 4 and President of the Women’s Association. Pauline was also a member and past president of the PEO sisterhood, Chapter DU. She was President of her Nurses Alumni Association and PTA. Pauline loved to garden, read and cook. Her home was open to all; and she always prepared enough food to feed extras, as she never knew who might be stopping in for dinner. She had a passion for sports, particularly baseball. She loved her “Rockies.” Pauline was married to Frank S. Genova for 62 years, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Glenwood Springs), John (Littleton) and Scott (Littleton); and was “Mom Genova” to many of her children’s friends. She is also survived by her sisters, Jo Edgar (Bob) of Paonia and Florence Poulignot (Rex) of Manzanola. Additionally, she is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Maryann Genova (Pueblo), and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize Martin and Cindy Shafer (children: Allison and Amanda) of Colorado Springs and Tim and Candace Juarez (children: Chris, Sean and Anyssa) of Lakewood, CO. The Shafer’s and Juarez’s were her “family”; and she was grateful for their help, love, kindness and respect. She will be missed by all. In lieu of food and flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to First Presbyterian Church, 220 W. 10th, Pueblo, CO 81003, in her honor or to Colorado Mountain College Foundation, 802 Grand Ave, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, to assist students. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Online condolences at www.tgmccarthy.com. Arrangements by TG McCarthy Funeral Home.
