Mary Ann White, 90, passed away October 21, 2013. She was born on April 6, 1923 as one of 12 children to Charles O. and Mary D. Petrie, and raised on the “Antelope Mesa” north of Olney Springs, CO. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald P. White; brothers, Calvin, Hugh, Charles and Chester Petrie; sisters, Lois (Hank) Brogdon, Hazel (Gerald) Davis, Thelma (Jerry) Griffin, Margie (Jake) Garrett and Dot (Jerry) Fugere. Survived by sons, Gordon White and Roger (Terri) White; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmie (Marlene) Petrie; sister, Mildred (Fred) Mang, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Vivian Petrie and Jean Petrie; brothers-in-law, Jake Garrett and Jerry Fugere. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. Mary Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church. She worked for Bell Telephone Co during WWII and was a member of the American Businesswomen’s Association. Later she worked at Arkansas Valley Bank (renamed United Bank) as a switchboard operator, teller and clerk. She was an avid bowler for many years. After retiring, she spent time gardening, knitting, working with ceramics, Christmas crafts, sewing, and traveling to Laughlin, Nevada with her husband Don, as well as visiting family across the country. Her biggest joy was hosting Holiday dinners and spending time with her family. Although she is gone, the memories and traditions she created will live forever in the hearts of those she touched. She was much loved by all who knew her. The family respectfully requests the omission of food and flowers. At her request no public viewing.
