It is with profound sadness that we said goodbye to Maria Santistevan on November 12, 2021. Maria was born in 1941, and was one of 12 children from the Domingo and Carmen Hernandez Family. Although she lived in 4 different states during her life, Pueblo is where she felt at home. It is here that she made many lifelong friends and eventually met the love of her life, José. During their 60 years of marriage together, they raised 2 handsome sons, followed by 6 beautiful grandchildren and 6 more adorable great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy. Maria was truly a child of God with a deep faith and was nicknamed the “little nun” by her mother. She never turned down a request for prayers from family and friends in need, and her prayer chain was continually growing. We can rest assured that we now have our own guardian angel watching over us. The family is planning a private service for immediate family only. However, when it is safe to gather, a celebration of life will be planned and all who loved Maria are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Maria’s friends in faith, the Poor Clare Sisters @ the Monastery of Our Heavenly Father, 806 E. B Street, Pueblo, CO 81003.
