Fleta (Joann) Hagan Fry of Pueblo, CO, affectionately known as "Tweeter," passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024 at the age of 86. Joann was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and Christian. Renowned for her kindness, humor, and resilience, Joann touched countless lives.
Joann is survived by her three sons, Mike, Todd, and Phil; three grandchildren, Blake, Laurel, and Leo; daughters-in-law, Karen and Patty; sister Patsy; brother-in-law Abel; niece Leslie; and Leslie's three children, Phillip, Tabor, and Jabey.
Joann was raised by her loving parents, Euella (Nani) and Joe Mansfield. As a daughter of a construction company owner, Joann attended 20 different schools throughout Southern and Western Colorado. Joann attended the University of Northern Colorado, majoring in Secondary Education. A proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a society for women educators, she taught in numerous high schools. Additionally, Joann worked as the Assistant Director of Admissions at Loretto Heights College and Assistant Supervisor in Legal Correspondence at Oppenheimer Shareholder Services.
Known for her sharp wit and sense of humor, Joann enjoyed swapping jokes and banter with her family. While she had a stubborn streak, it was tempered by her gentle spirit and genuine love for others.
A lover of nature and the outdoors, Joann cherished the mountains and the company of her dogs. With her keen aim, she could outshoot many with a rifle. Ironically, she was once shot in the rear-end by a stray bullet while sitting around a campfire. Joann loved taking long motorcycle rides through the mountains with her husband Doug. Due to her talkative nature, their motorcycle club coined her "Rambling Rose."
Joann was dedicated to her community. She tended to the best lawn on the block, cared for the squirrels and birds in her backyard, and was the original neighborhood watch. A voracious reader, Joann had a particular fondness for Westerns and the Bible, which she read cover-to-cover each year. Her presence, laughter, and steadfast spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
