Doris Ann Blanton was born on November 16, 1934 in Farber, Missouri to Glenn and Frances Thompson. She passed from this life on August 7, 2021. Doris Ann’s siblings Elgean Thompson, Eva Van Arsdale and Louise Warmack, along with their spouses, all precede her in death as do her nephews Gary Thompson and Bob Warmack whom she loved dearly.
Doris Ann is survived by her husband, Vernon Blanton; her children Maria (Mike) Ribarich and Glenn Frank DePietro, and Vern’s children Wesley (Elizabeth) Blanton and Ginger (Jim) Case.
Her twelve grandchildren who share memories of Christmas gatherings and time spent at the cabin in San Isabel are Matthew, Anthony (Alexandra), Kevin and Hannah Ribarich; Kyle Cabibi-DePietro, Tobi and Isaiah (Alex) Romero, Kimberly and Joshua Blanton, Meghan and Mallory Case, and Elizabeth (Scott) Hafer. Doris Ann is survived by great grandchildren, J.T., Lilliana, Leo and Luke Baxter, Leighland and Rowdy Blanton, and JB, Aidan, and Teddy Hafer. Also left behind to cherish her memory are several nieces, nephews and extended family members in Colorado, Montana, Missouri and Texas.
Thompson family gatherings and the biennial Thompson/Utterback family reunions held in Colorado, Montana and Missouri were some of her favorite times shared with family.
Doris Ann retired from San Isabel Electric Association after many years of service, and had many special friends with whom she worked alongside. She and Vern much enjoyed the “Retiree Lunches” they attended as often as possible. A longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Doris Ann leaves behind numerous “sisters” she befriended throughout the years.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful neighbors who looked in on her and were always willing to lend a hand; the staff of Center Care Hospice and Erika Hatchett along with her dedicated staff at Arikare Homecare Services for their compassion and care.
Services for Doris Ann will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11 am in the Imperial Memorial Gardens Chapel with graveside service to follow. The chapel service will be available to watch via livestream at https://www.facebook.com/ImperialMemorial/
A luncheon reception will be held at 1 pm at the Elks Lodge, 426 N. Santa Fe Avenue, please use the 5th Street door.
In lieu of food and flowers please make donations in memory of Doris Ann to the American Diabetes Association or to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
