Angela Biondi (De Salvo) was born August 27, 1913 in Pueblo, CO and passed away on April 1, 2011 in Spokane, WA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Biondi; parents Pasquale and Vincenza De Salvo; siblings, Carmella (Carmen), Henry (Mary), Tony (Jennie), Edith (Al) and niece, Marie (Jack) Neelan. Angela is survived by sons, Raymond and Robert Biondi; granddaughter, Deena (Rick) Harris; two great-grandchildren Jacob and Bella Harris; nieces, Virginia (Al) Niznick, Josephine Bucciarelli, Marilyn Walter, Phyllis Gardner; nephews, Carmen (Betty) Bucciarelli and John De Salvo. Angela began her teaching career at the age of forty-five in Pueblo District 70, teaching Spanish in the grade schools. She initialized the Italian classes at the high school level for District 60. At the same time she was teaching Italian at the college where she also served as Language Department Chairperson. She was very proud of her heritage and promoted the language and culture through her lifetime of teaching. She loved to travel and had a deep appreciation for Art and Music. She retired at the age of 81, but continued to tutor and translate for friends. Angela was a member of the Dante Alighieri Society. She served as president for several years and was in charge of the Italian Scholarship Program. She belonged to the Ladies Protective Society and the Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society which honoured her as the Woman of the Year for 2007. Memorials may be made to the Dante Alighieri Scholarship Fund or the CSU Fund for Italian Studies through the funeral home. Viewing, 2 – 4 pm, today at the funeral home.
