South Kingstown Thomas A. McCormick, Sr. 77, of Holiday Court, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at South County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret M. (Rogers) McCormick. Tom passed away on his and Margaret's 53rd wedding anniversary. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William H. and Rose E. (Coyle) McCormick. Tom was a claims adjuster for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority for twenty years before retiring. Previously he was an investigator for the Rhode Island Public Defender's Office. Mr. McCormick was a communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Church, and served his parish as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a strong advocate for the Right to Life. He was a 1949 graduate of LaSalle Academy, and a 1958 graduate of Providence College. Mr. McCormick served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He leaves three sons, Thomas A. McCormick, Jr., Stephen G. McCormick and John B. McCormick; three daughters, Maureen Williams, Kathleen A. McCormick-Holmander and Rosemarie A. Hogan; three sisters, Sr. Rose Corde McCormick, Maryknoll Missionary, Agnes Murphy and Helen Beaudry; fifteen grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was the loving father of the late Timothy F. McCormick and Paul M. McCormick, and brother of the late William McCormick. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 8:00 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Friday, 4 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mother of Life Center, 101 Franklin Street, Westerly, RI 02891 in his memory will be appreciated.
