Thomas A. Caruolo, Jr., 91, passed away at home on November 14, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Olga A. (Furtado) Caruolo for 66 years and son of the late Thomas A. and Hazel (Noyce) Caruolo. He was the father of Wayne T. Caruolo; grandfather of Griffin Caruolo and Rollin Hills; and brother of Gloria Coelho and the late Virginia Lolio and Paul Caruolo.
Mr. Caruolo retired as a project manager for Herzog-Hart Construction Co. He enlisted in the 243rd Coast Artillery of the RI National Guard in 1938. The 243rd was federalized in Sept. 1940; he served overseas from July 1944 to June 1945 and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major of the 103rd Field Artillery of the RI Army National Guard in 1982.
Visitation Sunday 3-6 p.m. A funeral home service will be held Monday at 9 am in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Providence Marine Corp of Artillery, 46 Ashland Road, North Scituate, RI 02857.
