Sr. Mary Catherine Boudreau, FMM , 87 of Ein Karim Community, died on December 5, 2014 at St. Antoine Residence, N. Smithfield, RI. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Sr. Catherine was the daughter of the late Frank and Frieda (Simon) Boudreau. Sr. Mary Catherine Boudreau, fmm, entered the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary December 12, 1945 in Holy Family Novitiate North Providence. After pronouncing her first vows in June 1948, she was sent in Mission to East Boston to Our Lady of Good Help Orphanage and then to Kennedy Memorial Hospital, now known as Franciscan Hospital for Children. She made her final vows in June 1951 in Holy Family Chapel N. Providence. After completing her studies in nursing as an R.N., she was sent in mission to St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY, where she served as the Director of Nursing and then as Assistant Administrator. In 1969, she was sent to Indonesia and missioned to the Island of Flores where she assisted in providing medical care to the poor. She returned to the USA province in 1986 to help care for her mother. Unable to renew her visa for Indonesia, she was missioned to Queen of Peace Community where she helped in the care of elderly sisters. In 1988 she was sent in mission to Hazlehurst, Georgia, where she served as a medical transcriptionist in a clinic. In 1990 she was sent to St. Bonaventure Mission in Thoreau, N.M. There her ministries were secretary in a Montessori school for Navajo children and local treasurer. Two years later her assignment to the Oakland/San Francisco area enabled her to serve the Catholic Indonesian Community. Her next mission was to Sr. Francis Community in Roslyn where she served as a volunteer in St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, New York. Sr. Cathy’s declining health required her being sent in mission to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Assisted Living Residence in North Providence, RI and finally to St. Antoine’s Residence for further health care. She is survived by three sisters, Celiene Saathoff and Agnes Stackhouse from Colorado and Josephine Loo from California and several other nieces and nephews. Her niece, Karen Miller stayed in close contact with Sr. Cathy. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. in the Holy Family Chapel, 399 Fruit Hill Avenue, North Providence. Funeral Mass at Holy Family Chapel, Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Russell J.
