Shirley A.(Schofield) Riedeman,83, of Providence passed away on Sunday, July 7,2019.She was the loving wife of the late Ralph Riedeman.They we're married for sixty years.Their wedding took place at St.Anthony's Church in Providence,on February 27,1954.
Shirley was the daughter of the late Harold and Rita(Capra)Schofield,and was born in Providence,on March 15,1936. She was predeceased by her daughter, Rita Riedeman,and her grandson,Matthew DePari. Beloved mother of Ralph Jr.,Patricia,and John. Grandmother of Jessica and Gianna Riedeman, and Evan Park. Proud great "Grammy" to Amaya Johnson. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Laraine Schofield of Johnston, and two sister's, Deborah Schofield of North Providence, and Cheryl Irons of Cranston, in addition to several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a homemaker for most of her life. However, she did work for a time at Nilo Manufacturing in Johnston and Kalunian's in Providence. She loved to reminisce about her fond memories working at the soda fountain as a waitress. She always enjoyed being around people and socializing whenever she had the chance. That's what she loved most in life,was spending time with family and friends and being outdoors. She really enjoyed taking the bus to Foxwoods every week,to play bingo with her friends. She did that for many years. She also loved watching the Red Sox. An avid and knowledgeable fan she was,never missing a game! Shirley was a very kind and generous person. She was cherished and deeply loved by her devoted children and granddaughter, who took care of her during the last years and days of her life. She gave to them the gift of unconditional love,strength,and courage.
She will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
Her visitation and funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 17,2019 from 9:00 am-10:30 am from Romano Funeral Home, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Church,15 George Waterman Avenue, Johnston. Burial to follow at St. Ann's Cemetery.
