A devoted, loving, gentle, and caring father and grandfather, Sheldon Jay Melamut, Yaakov Shlomo, (78) left this world on Monday, May 10, 2021. Born on April 7, 1943, Jay was the son of the late Isadore and Anna (Shenker) Melamut. His survivors include his brother Jerry Melamut and his wife Ethel, two sons, Mark Melamut and his wife Hayley DeLugach, and Brian Melamut and his wife Jana. His four grandchildren Ayla and Lee, and Kinneret and Geffen, will miss his hugs, kisses and endearing words which he repeated to them over and over, “I love you to the moon and back!” He also leaves behind his devoted and loving companion, Judy Kravitz, who has been by his side for many years. Jay was a proud veteran and graduate of the University of Rhode Island and the University of Alabama. He worked in the family jewelry business and later as a youth guidance counselor in the Philadelphia Public School system before retiring. Thank you to all of his friends and family for your support over these years. You were his life and your personal connection meant so much to him. May Jay’s memory be for a blessing.
