Santa Mainelli

Santa (Alessandro) Mainelli, age 101, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Barbara, whom she had lived with for the last 3 years, on September 14, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Nicola Mainelli for 75 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Antonino and Teresa (Rao) Alessandro.

Santa was a Floor Lady for New England Plastics for 25 years and then Ronnie’s Jewelry before retiring. After retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Florida with her husband for 30 years.

She was the beloved mother of Donna M. Brigida and her husband Michael and Barbara A. Ambrosino and her husband Salvatore; cherished grandmother of Ali Brigida; great-grandmother of Sarina Resto; and sister of the late Rose Grande, Mary Pitassi, Doris Cassieri, and Evelyn DeFranco. She also leaves her fur grandson, Sergio.

Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mary Ann Sorrentino for the compassionate care she gave to her aunt.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Graveside burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
