Raymond J. “Ray” Degnan, age 74, a lifelong resident of North Providence, passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital after a short illness on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2023, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Providence, Ray was the son of the late John T. and Ellen Mary (McLaughlin) Degnan. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Gabriel) Degnan and the treasured father of Alaina Degnan (Samuel Nunez). Ray was the cherished Grampy to Madalyn and Ava and beloved brother of John F. “Jack” Degnan.
Ray was a self-employed Master Plumbing and Heating Specialist for over 50 years. In later years, he was employed at The Dunk and The Providence Water Supply Board for a combined 20 years, before retiring in 2017.
Ray was a quiet and soft-spoken man. He was family man, and especially enjoyed vacationing with them and taking in Boston Red Sox games and father-daughter shopping excursions. He was an avid New England Patriots and Red Sox fan.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth Street, North Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am will follow in the church. Burial will be private.
