Olga Maria Nunez, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 17, 2021 in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Daughter of the late Marcial Pulido and Emerita Aguila, she was born on September 30, 1936 in Cardenas de Matanza, Cuba. She was sister to the late Yolanda Aguila, Marcial Aguila, and Luis Aguila. She is survived by brother, Jorge Perez and sister, Zoraida Martell. She was the loving and adoring mother of Brenda Aquero and Carlos Nunez, and the doting grandmother to Nathan Nunez, Ashlyn Nunez, Sofia Bolanos, Noah Nunez, Connor Pullen, and Cecilia Nunez.
Olga’s love of the outdoors, the ocean, and animals began with a childhood growing up on Playa Larga in Cuba. In 1960 at the age of 24 she made the journey through the middle of the night across the ocean to immigrate to the United States with some of her siblings. She settled in Miami Florida, where she raised her two children until she moved to Rhode Island in 2016. Meticulous in all she did, she was an impeccable, professionally trained seamstress, sought by many for her work. Over the years she made stunning custom wedding dresses for many of her family members. When she wasn’t sitting at her sewing machine, she was likely outside tending to her beautiful and vibrant garden. A resilient and selfless human being, she relished in lending a helping hand to all. She had a deep appreciation for animals and enjoyed taking care of the neighborhood strays, raising canaries, ducklings and even kittens. Above all, the pride and joy of her life was her family, her children, and her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
