Maureen J. Malloy RN, age 80, of Johnston, Rhode Island passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Muriel (Jolicoeur) Ryan.
Maureen received her LPN license from Saint Joseph School of Nursing and started working as an OR nurse at Fatima Hospital. She continued her education at Rhode Island College and received her Bachelor of Science in 1975 and Master of Education in 1979. She decided to change her career goal and started working at Central High School in 1977 teaching the newly developed Health Magnet. The program was moved to Mount Pleasant High School in 1978 where she continued to teach and run the program until 2004 when she retired. Maureen was a big inspiration to her students. She was not only their teacher, but was also their friend and mentor. Maureen loved to go camping and has traveled to many places.
Maureen is survived by her daughters Karen L. Malloy of Estero,FL. Julie B. Malloy RN of Johnston and her late son Sergeant Edmond F. Malloy, Jr., PPD. She also leaves her grandchildren, Adam T. Miller, Nickolas Cyr, Rachael Cyr, Meagan Malloy, Officer Ryan Malloy, PPD, and great grandchild Charlie Cyr. Maureen who was known as Mo to everyone is once again with her best friend, her beloved dog Bandit. Maureen was the former wife of the late Lieutenant Edmond F. Malloy, Sr., PPD.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Family and friends may call Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Funeral Home.
