Joseph A. Menna, 89, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2017 at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre, Cranston. He was the husband of Lottie M. (Lettieri) Menna for 63 years. Born in the Silver Lake section of Providence, he was the son of the late Stefano and Ida (Pazienza) Menna.
Joe loved sports, and especially playing baseball. He was a coach for many years for Silver Lake Little League and Senior League. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army, and was awarded the Occupation Medal Japan, the United Nations Service Medal, and Korean Service Medal. He possessed a strong work ethic and was meticulous about his work as a printing press operator at APCO Printing and Annex Printing.
He was the father of Joseph S. (Margaret) Menna of Cranston, Stephen P. Menna of Haines City, Florida, Raymond M. Menna of Cranston, and Lauren J. Sousa (Steven) of Chocorua, NH. He was the brother of Philip (the late Barbara) Menna, formerly of Hopkinton, MA, and Agnes Mancini (Anthony) of Smithfield, RI. He is also survived by his loving granddaughter, Kristen M. Menna of Cranston.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM in the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Bartholomew’s Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence. Graveside burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
