John A. Mattera

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Ignazio and Maria (Iacono) Mattera; beloved husband of Kathryn E. (Irving) Mattera for 35 years; brother of the late Joseph Mattera; brother-in-law of Isabelle McGurn, Dorothy and Ralph Calise, William Mattera and the late Ann Marie Mattera, Jessie Mattera and John McGurn; uncle of numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces. He will also be sadly missed by his cat, Mattie.

Mr. Mattera worked for Campanella & Cardi Construction Company (1950-1983) and for D'Ambra Construction Company (1983-1994) and was a member of Laborers Union Local 271.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence, followed by a graveside burial with Military Honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
