WARWICK - GALLIGAN, John J., 81, of West Shore Rd., died unexpectedly Tuesday at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elsie M. (Saxon) Galligan. Born in Providence, a son of the late Charles S. and Mary A. (Sharkey) Galligan, he lived in Warwick for the past 47 years. Mr. Galligan had been a driver-salesman for the former Flynn Towel Co. in Providence for 30 years before he retired in 1988. He later worked in food service for Providence College at Raymond Hall for 11 years. He was a member of the Circus Fans of America, and had served as past president of the Fr. Edward Sullivan Tent of C.F.A-#118. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a communicant of St. Peter Church, and a member of the Teamsters-Local 251. He is survived by his children, Joanne M. Cousineau, and John J. "Jack" Galligan, of Warwick; a brother Charles B. Galligan of Providence, and three grandchildren Chester A. Roberts, III, Amanda M. Roberts, and Katherine M. Cousineau. His funeral will be Friday at 7:45am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Peter Church 350 Fair St., Warwick. Burial will be in R.I. Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-8pm.
