Born in Providence, James was the son of the late James J. Sr. and Anna (Cunnane) Kennedy.
A graduate of LaSalle Academy, James was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a man that could fix almost anything. Along with spending time with his family, James also enjoyed tinkering with cars, the Celtics and Patriots and Boxing, but most of all enjoyed his Irish heritage.
James is survived by his son, John W. Kennedy and his wife, Debra, his daughter, Cathleen M. Tager and her husband Carim, 4 grandchildren, Erick, Sarah, Nicholas, Gabriella, and his brother, Michael Kennedy. He was the brother of the late John P. Kennedy.
Funeral Friday at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St Pius V. Church, 240 Eaton St., Providence. Burial in Saint Francis Cemetery in Pawtucket.
