Providence Francis M. "Frank" Crowley, 65, of Providence, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at home.Born in Providence, he was a beloved son of the late Rose Ann (Donaghy) Crowley and Francis M. Crowley, former Providence 12th Ward City Councilman. Frank's brother, John Joseph, died in 1980. Frank leaves behind his sister, and best friend, Ellen "Bonnie" (Crowley) Murgo, her husband, Michael, their four children: Tara Payne, Marc Murgo, Jo-Ellen Murgo Paterno, Michael Crowley Murgo, and six grand nieces, all of whom Frank adored. Frank is also survived by his brother Dr. James P. Crowley and his grandnephew, James M. Crowley. A graduate of Our Lady of Providence High School in 1969, Frank went on to earn his BA in English and History from the University of Rhode Island and a Master's in Public Health at the University of North Carolina. Through the years, Frank was a federal auditor in Washington, D.C., an analyst for the Oregon State Legislature, the Executive Director of the Medical Peer Review Panel in Santa Monica, C.A., and Director of Quality Health in Birmingham, A.L. He also taught public health policy at Emerson College and Northeastern University. Frank's desire to help people on a more personal level brought him to a career in nursing, his greatest love. He received his nursing degree from Rivier College in N.H. and went on to become an R.N. in both R.I. and M.A. The funeral will be held Monday, at 8:15 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Sunday, 2:00 - 5:00 pm.
