Born in Todd, NC, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Edna (Parlier) Pitts. Artie was the sister of the late Dwight Roy Pitts, Hazel Rosalee Pitts, Margaret Ann Pitts and Alex Gray Pitts. She is survived by her sister Patricia Geraldine Shore.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time gardening and being with her family.
She was the loving mother of Gabriel Venturini, Christina Wellen (Jeffrey), and Penny Payne (Tom) and stepmother of Vincent and Jason Martino; cherished grandmother of 12; and great-grandmother of 5.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins St, Providence followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
