Gorban, Arthur William, 94, died on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. He was pre deceased by his wife Julia (Samuels) Gorban to whom he was married for 58 years. Born in Hartford, CT, he was a son of the late Max and Rebecca (Guberman) Gorban. Upon his discharge from military service, he resided in New Bedford until his retirement to Delray Beach, FL. Mr. Gorban was Vice President of Sales and co-owner of Best Manufacturing Company with his brother in-law, the late Eli Samuels. Mr. Gorban served 38 months in the Pacific Theater with the 208th Anti-Aircraft Division in Australia and the 67th 1st Anti-Aircraft Airborne Unit in New Guinea, during World War II. He was an active member of Temple Emeth in Delray Beach Florida and Tifereth Israel Congregation in New Bedford, MA where he was a member of the Choir. Mr. Gorban also was a member of the Masons, Jewish War Veterans, Hawthorn Associates and Interfaith Council. He is survived by his sons, Harry Gorban and his wife Arlene of Dartmouth, MA and Steven Gorban and his wife Anne of Emsworth, Hampshire, UK; his grandchildren Jennifer Jageler, Aaron Gorban, Rebecca Gorban, Leah Gorman and Katie and Eric Rando; and great grandchildren Jared, Sarah and Lilly, and companion Annette Lubow. He was brother of the late Eve Beizer, Laura Gorban, Charlotte Sadler and Harry Gorban. A Graveside service will be on Sunday, December 30th, 2012 at 11:30 AM in Plainville Cemetery, New Bedford. Shiva will be observed following the service and on Sunday evening from 7:00PM until 8:30 PM and Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the home of Harry and Arlene Gorban. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County.
