Ginger was born in Wray, Colo. on Oct. 28, 1925 to Emmet C. and Edith (McVicker) Baley. Ginger was two years old when they moved from Wray, Colo. to Portland, Ore.
She graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1943 and started to work at Pacific Tel and Telegraph the day after graduation. She worked there until 1945 in the billing department.
In 1943, just before graduation, she met the love of her life, Charles Leroy Strange. They married on July 13, 1945 in Portland, Ore. and had three sons, Terry, Roger and Jerry “Butch”. Ginger and Chuck lived in several states as Chuck was in the circulation department of various newspapers. While living in San Francisco, Calif., she was able to join the Eastern Star Crocker Chapter. After moving to Redding, Calf. she joined the Daughters of the Nile in Sacramento, Calif. The Chapter in Redding was very active and worked very hard all year making things for their yearly boutique., with all profits going to children in the Masonic Hospital.
Over time, both Ginger and Chuck became qualified private pilots and acquired their own plane. Ginger joined a ladies group called the 99s. She participated in many air races and local activities, mostly in Redding, Calif. Ginger enjoyed many wonderful friendships in this club. For many years in Redding, starting in 1962, she worked for Dr. Jim Charles M.D. He became a close family friend and “Doc” spent many happy hours with them at Crooked River Ranch.
Ginger was very talented person; she made many quilts for her family and did beautiful handwork, which will be cherished by all for generations. She moved to Crooked River Ranch fulltime from Redding, Calf. in 1999. She made many wonderful friends and spent lots of time on the golf course with many of them. She will be missed by family and friends who have had the pleasure of knowing her.
Ginger is survived by her husband, Chuck of 67 years; three sons; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Baley of Kettle Falls, Idaho; and a sister, Leona preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, she requested memorial contributions be made to Partners in Care Hospice, 2075 N.E. Wyatt Court, Bend, OR, 97701.
