A private graveside service was held at Juniper Haven Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Prineville Funeral Home. Father Robert Greiner will officiate.
Martha was born in Laurel, Mississippi on November 25, 1929 to Curtis Berton & Christine (Jones) Breazeale. Martha moved with her parents to Oregon from Mississippi in the late 1930’s. Her father was superintendant of a saw mill in Mississippi that he dismantled, loaded on rail cars and transported to the new town of Gilchrist, Oregon, and reassembled.
She attended and graduated from Gilchrist High School in 1947. She also attended on year of college at Oregon State University in 1949.
Martha met her first husband, Earl Heathorn at Gilchirst. He was a meat cutter. Later they moved to Prineville and opened a butcher-shop and mobile slaughter operation. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Martha worked for a number of years as the executive secretary at First National Bank and retired in the 1990’s.
She married Curt Saunders in 1982 after Curt’s wife Stella passed away.
Martha was a member of the Catholic Church, and an active member of the Prineville Senior Center.
She loved hummingbirds, flowers, especially sunflowers, and enjoyed traveling all over the world. Martha also collected jewelry.
Martha is survived by her nephews; David & Donald Breazeale both of Portland, and many cousins in Mississippi. Step- sons; Dick & his wife Gladys Pierce of Newport, and Bob & his wife Marge Pierce of Prineville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2nd husband, Curt Saunders (8/26/2009).
