Ronald Gladstone Mills was born on June 24, 1934, in Sudbury, ON, to Harry and Fay Mills. Ron enjoyed an early career in the Royal Canadian Navy (Halifax) where he met his sweetheart, Janet Elsie Winchcombe, and married her in July 1958. Dad and Mom moved to Ontario to start their family where Dad excelled in sales at Eatons and eventually moved to Prince George, BC, in 1968. Dad finished his career as a correctional officer, retiring in 1988, and moving to the sunny Okanagan where they enjoyed traveling and dancing. Both Dad and Mom were very involved in Square and Round Dancing; they were amazing dancers! They returned to Prince George two years ago.
Dad loved to have fun and was known for pulling pranks and starting neighbourhood water fights and "acting the fool" (Mom's words). Dad also loved camping and fishing and enjoyed many memories with his family at Carp Lake.
Even when Alzheimers robbed Dad of remembering names he still found ways to laugh, tease, and enjoy an apple fritter at Timmies.
Ron was married for 63 years to the love of his life, Janet, and together they had 4 children: Steven (Holly), Sheri (Peter), Andrew (Vicky), Faye (Darcy); 4 grandchildren: Darian, Samuel, Victoria (Kyle), Breanna; and 5 great-grandchildren: Killian, Lennyn, Olivia, Ryder and Sawyer.
Dad's treasured and only brother David, lives in Dayton, OH
