The Warner Family mourns the loss of Karen Lee (Weaver) Warner. Karen was born in Vanderhoof, BC on August 15, 1956, to Drue and Carrie (Cordelia) Weaver. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 21, 2024.
Karen was an energetic, playful, and loving woman who had many passions in life. Her family always came first and she loved them unconditionally. Karen met Bill in 1982, together they shared 42 years of love and companionship. They raised four beautiful children, Leslie, Gillian, Alison, and Mike.
Karen was a devoted registered nurse for 35 years. She loved her work and felt fortunate to be able to dedicate herself to a career that she was so passionate about. She provided perinatal and public health care to the communities of Vanderhoof, Burns Lake, Houston, and Prince George. She had a special place in her heart for women and newborn babies and found her calling in supporting young families.
In addition to the passion she held for her family and her nursing career Karen loved to spend time outdoors. She loved hiking, cross country skiing, and gardening. She explored these activities through volunteering countless hours at Otway, hiking her favorite trails around Prince George and Jasper, and working with the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society as a proud Master Gardener.
Cancer took Karen from us far too early. We will be thinking of her whenever we witness the beauty of nature on all the trails and outdoor places that she loved.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Warner; children, Leslie (D’Arcy), Gillian (Jeff), Alison and Michael; mother, Carrie; siblings, Gordon, Charlette, Judy, Darrell, Glenn and Phillip; beloved grandchildren, Maxine and Nina. She is predeceased by her brother, Chris, and father, Drue.
We will be holding a celebration of life to honor Karen at Knox Performing Arts Centre (1448 5th Ave, Prince George, BC) on March 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm with a small reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society and La Leche League Canada.
