H.W. "John" Moore

With great sadness that we announce that John passed away on July 15, 2021 at the age of 87. John left behind his daughters, Carol (Jerome); Connie; Sharon (Don); Joan (Bernie), step-daughter, Roberta (Mike), and their families, including: seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his twin sons, Clinton and Clifford. Although John never had the opportunity to raise his sons, he formed a special father-son bond with his grandson and friend Lawrence.

John was born in Salmon Arm to William and Edith. He was the second youngest of six children and was predeceased by his parents and four siblings. He is survived by his youngest brother, Mel.

John married Lora in 1959 and they started their family. In the late 60’s they settled in Quesnel and built our home in Kersley. John worked as a faller and a tree planting contractor, and in later years he realized his dream and bought a ranch near Camrose, AB. After raising cattle for a few years, he made his way back to Quesnel.

In early 2020, after living back in Kersley for 19 years, he decided it was time to accept some help so he made the courageous decision to sell his beautiful acreage to move to Prince George to be closer to family. His move gave some of us an opportunity to spend precious time with him that we would have never been able to if he stayed in Quesnel. Each visit was a blessing and gift both to him and us.

If John was not at home, you probably would find him in a coffee shop. He was a fan of rodeos, auction sales, Stampede Wrestling and never missed watching the Calgary Stampede on TV. John recently shared that he never enjoyed western movies or books and he always called his dogs “Pepper” so he wouldn’t forget their name.

John will be remembered for his trucker hats, great head of hair, fantastic smile and witty sense of humour. He always carried a Memo pad in his shirt pocket but he also impressed many by using a smart phone and a laptop. He will be dearly missed.
