David Richard Wenger

He was predeceased by his parents Mel and Rose Wenger and brother Bob Wenger.

Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia Wenger (nee Simpson), son Miguel Goncalves and granddaughter Cedalia of Sidney BC, daughter Lindsay Earle (Jeffrey) of Douglas Harbour NB, brother Ron Wenger (Johanna) of Bridge Lake BC, and sister Patricia Lester (Norman) of Hannah AB.

He will be greatly missed by his brother and sister in-law Eddy and Betty of Cold Lake AB. Not only were they there throughout all the good memories over the years, they also stood by the family every single day throughout Dave’s fight with cancer. Dave will be missed by his canasta buddies brother and sister in-law Dale and Donna Simpson of Prince George BC. Uncle Davey will remain in the hearts of many nephews and nieces near and far and in the hearts of many friends, old and new.

In Daves 71 years, he was always a loving and compassionate man who was proud of his family. He invested a lot of years volunteering in the community of Prince George and was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge. He and Pat home-shared for Aimhi for 12 years which they enjoyed greatly. In this time, Dave was very proud to be a part of the lives of two special people, KC Westerman and Tori Isaac.

In Dave’s younger years he would be found racing stock cars, cheering on the Calgary Flames or Stampeders with some buddies at a local pub, hunting, fishing or camping and completing his honey-do lists. Into retirement, he would be found in the garden with pat, running his ranger to town twice daily for Costco and KC runs, stoking a fire in the back yard or in front of the television watching The Curse of Oak Island, the History channel or his Bluejays. Dave was grateful for everyone who shared their lives with him and who continued to encourage and support the family once he started his battle with Cancer 14 months ago. There are so many people and organizations to thank and hopefully we have done so along the way.

For many reasons we would like to give a special thank you to Janine and Cory Thompson (Brady and Nigel), Marty and Carla Anderson, Mike and Barry, Sue Perron, Jim and Jackie Barbondy and our niece Tracey Simpson, great nephew Bobby Smith and wife Dustyne, their 3 boys and our many neighbors in the valley who helped keep us afloat during this time. Dave loved you all so much and appreciated all your efforts.

We would especially like to extend our love and gratitude to our daughter Lindsay who came from New Brunswick twice to take care of her dad and support us through the last year. Without her compassion, knowledge and tenderness we would not have had the last year together. Lindsay brought him back from the brink many times and kept him comfortable and cozy in his final days but still managed to earn another eye roll from him in his last days when she encouraged him to continue living by including him in her shenanigans once again and dressed him up as Santa. He would do anything for you. There really are no words to express how proud and grateful we are for you Lindsay. Davey loved and trusted you with his life. Thank you Jeffrey for being such a great son in-law to us and for encouraging and supporting Lindsay while she was away from home.

Due to COVID-19 there will be no service at this time. There will be a backyard BBQ and bonfire celebration of life in his honor in Davey style when restrictions are lifted.
