Coral leaves to mourn her sisters Carrie MacMillan (Peter Hicklin) and Margaret MacMillan (David McAllister); and nieces and nephews Edward (Daisy Xi) and Emma (Benoit Legris) Hicklin, Fraser and Francesca Baldry and Alicia (David) Gold and Kyle McAllister, as well as several grand-nieces and nephews.
Coral was pre-deceased by her parents John Daniel and Mona (Wandless) MacMillan and by her partner, David Lamey and her sister, Judith MacMillan. She leaves as well good friends Alan Pernicelle, who was also a colleague, and Bonnie Cole of McBride, B.C.
Coral was born in Quebec City, Quebec and died in Prince George, British Columbia. She was raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick which she left after high school to visit the West. She and Dave fell in love with the magnificent Cariboo country, west of the Rockies, and settled in the Robson Valley in the tiny town of McBride. On their acreage Coral pursued two of the loves of her life: animals that included dogs and horses, and her beloved gardens, in which her green thumb created an abundance of vegetables for the fall harvest and a paradise of flowers around her mountain home. Coral was a keen observer of nature and wildlife, recording among other flora and fauna the first and last hummingbirds of each year and the occasional cougar visitor to her property.
Coral pursued careers in McBride, first as a dispatcher for a fuel company and ultimately as the corporate manager of the British Columbia Liquor Store, a job that included supplying the busy tourism and outdoor industries in the region.
A hardworking, independent and private person, Coral lived her life well, quietly balancing nature and service to her community. While Coral lived at a distance from her family in the East, she was regularly, in fact with the advent of e-mail almost daily, in touch with her sisters, who remained close to the end. Rest in peace, dear sister and auntie.
