Maurice Alton Nixon

Maurice Alton Nixon, age 98, of Deatsville, Alabama passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.B. and Ethel Nixon and his brother, Johnny Nixon. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Marian Nixon.

Maurice Nixon was raised in Prattville, Al and graduated Prattville High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He also served as an accountant for the Army at Ft. Rucker.

On September 12, 1952, he married Marian Little and they made their home in Deastville. Maurice farmed, owned a little country store, Nixon Grocery, alongside his dad and worked as a rural mail carrier for 20 years where he retired from the US Postal Service.

Maurice worked diligently with Stoney Point Church of Chirst, where he served as a song leader and bible class teacher. He enjoyed sports and was a very big fan of The Alabama Crimson Tide.

A visitation for Maurice will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Stoney Point Church of Christ, 412 County Road 40 E, Deatsville, AL 36022, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
