Celebration of Life services will be held Monday March 3 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Joe Roy officiating Mr. Evans was born on December 25, 1928 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to the late Clyde and Mayme Beckham Evans.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. His naval service included sea duty aboard such well known vessels as the carrier U.S.S. Essex, battleship U.S.S. New Jersey and the transport ship U.S.S. General Mann.
Mr. Evans was retired from Brockway Glass Company with twenty six years of service and was a member and employee of the Prattville Country Club where he worked in the Pro Shop. He was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the VFW. Other than his parents, Mr. Evans is preceded in death by his son Larry; sisters Marteen Burlingame, Frances Stubbs and Betty Fortner.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean of Prattville; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Adrian Bramblett of Prattville; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Dave and Jo Evans of Anderson, Indiana, Tony and Brenda Evans of Haleyville, Alabama, Chris and Lana Evans of Markleville, Indiana, Belinda Evans of Camby, Indiana; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Lois Evans of Carmel, Indiana and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church Monday March 3rd.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Social Services, 4455 Narrow Lane Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36116.
