On the afternoon of January 20, 2023, Alice Russell of Prattville died at the age of 78. Alice was born to Heber and Nan Langston in Selma Alabama. Alice graduated from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo Texas in 1963. She had a 32-year career with the civil service in editorial positions working on Craig, Maxwell, and Gunter Air Force Bases. She participated in plays on Maxwell Air Force Base, which is where she met the love of her life and husband, Randy. She was an active member in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and loved participating in the choir and plays there. Along with the church choir, Alice was an active member of the Prattville Community Chorus for 20 plus years.
Alice was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to cook, sing, listen to music, collect dolls and old toys, raise flowers, and to read books to her children and grandchildren. She loved sunshine and bright, beautiful days. Alice had a beautiful smile and a wonderful laugh and gave great hugs! She was a gift to her entire family and was a beautiful woman inside and out.
Alice is preceded in death by her father, Heber Langston, her mother, Nannie Langston, and her son-in-law, Eddie Ross. She is survived by her husband, Randall Russell; her sister, Myrtle Mitchell (Don) and brother Hugh Langston (Judy); five children: Allison Farrow (Carl), Laurie Ross, Daryl Todd Laporte, Sheri Bailey (Tommy), and Amy Aldridge (Eric). She is also survived by 11 beloved grandchildren, 7 beloved great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at a later date. In leu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your charity of choice.
