Mr. Thomas Theron Butterfield, age 51 of Potsdam, NY was killed on February 19, 2013 in an automobile accident in the town of Canton, NY. Funeral Services for Tom will be held at the Garner Funeral Service on Saturday, February 23rd at 11 am with Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at the Crary Mills Cemetery. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Friends are then invited to stay until 12:30 when Tom will be escorted to the cemetery vault by the Morley Volunteer Fire Department. Tom is survived by his wife Robin Hazelton Butterfield and her companion Marisa Graves; his son Dustin Norton; 3 step children Teabera (Nathan) Meyer, Samantha French and Jerrid French; and grandchildren Tyler Lee and Jaylyn French. He is predeceased by his parents Theron and Anna Butterfield and a grandson Austin French.
Mr. Thomas Theron Butterfield was born on August 14, 1961 in Potsdam, NY to Theron and Anna Butterfield. He attended Potsdam Central High School. While in High School Tom was on the football team. On April 3, 2004 at the Robert Camp in the town of Pierrepont he was married to Robin Hazelton. Tom worked at the NYSARC as a driver for 16 years and then he worked for the Johnson Newspaper Company for years delivering the Watertown Daily Times newspapers. He also worked for Bailey’s Florist as a delivery guy.
He was a former member of the West Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years and was a current member of the Morley Volunteer Fire Department.
