He was born in San Francisco, California on September 2, 1924 and is survived by his wife, Laura; two nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Aemon; mother, Edna; brother, Edward; and sister, Ednamae Lewis.
Bill grew up in Redwood City, California where his father was a letter carrier during the Great Depression. He went to Sequoia High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He fought with the 28th Division during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he went to San Mateo Junior College and later worked for the Department of Corrections in California.
In 1962, he operated a private security business with a partner in South San Francisco. In 1981, upon his partner's retirement, Bill operate the company until his retirement in 1991. At that time, Bill and Laura moved to Maui, Hawaii where they remained until 2005. They then moved to Kahala Nui Retirement Community in Honolulu for eight years. In 2013, they moved back to the mainland and settled in Portland, Oregon at the Holladay Park Plaza.
Bill's hobbies included reading, music, watching old movies, baseball, football and golf. He enjoyed walking and water aerobics. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Madeleine Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
