Wanda was born December 19, 1922 at the family home in Stevensville to Albert and Nina (Blodget) Henderson. She attended grade and high school in Stevensville graduating with honors in 1940. She was married to Charles Neil Flanagin, Jr. September 6, 1942 in Seattle where they resided until Neil joined the Army in December. She moved to Portland when he was stationed at nearby Camp Adair. She was employed there as the receptionist with Associated Insurance Office. She returned to Montana when Neil was sent to the European Theater of Operations, living in Missoula where she attended Modern Business School. She was employed at the Agricultural Conservation Association office whel Neil was overseas. When the War ended she moved with Neil to Newport, RI where Neil completed his Army service at Fort Adams. In November 1947 they returned to Montana, settling on the Flanagin ranch south of Stevensville. In May of 1952 they moved to Hamilton, but after her husband’s death in September of that year she moved back to Missoula with their two children. There she made a small day care in her home until both children were in school in 1956. She was employed by Missoula First Federal Savings and Loan, retiring from there as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer in 1968.
