Ruth Anita Laubsch, 93, passed away June 16, 2013 in Wood Village, Oregon surrounded by her loving family. Born June 25, 1919 in Pierce, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Hugo and Hulda Retzlaff. She attended Lutheran School in Nebraska. In 1946, Ruth married Edward Laubsch after he returned home from World War II. They were inseparable for 28 years until his passing in 1984. She joined Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Portland, Oregon in 1959, and was a dedicated member the remainder of her life.
Ruth loved reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. She enjoyed annual family summer trips to Nebraska to visit her hometown family. But, her true passions were her family and her work with the church, sharing her faith with everyone she could, and leaving a legacy of love and commitment.
Left behind to remember her legacy are her daughters: Karen Lane and husband David, and Jackie Jenkins and husband John; grandchildren: John Jenkins, Jr. and his wife Jenni, Julie Wittenborn and husband Byron, Ryan Lane, Jeremy Lane and wife Angie, and Tara Hubbard and husband Ian; great grandchildren Bethany, Finley, Avery, Matthew, and Azra; sisters: Elaine Rassmussen, Margaret Rassmussen, and Dolores Snider. She was preceded in death by her angel, her great granddaughter Leah Jenkins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 3:00pm at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 9800 SE 92nd Avenue, Happy Valley, OR 97086.
