Roy Douglas Jordan

Roy Douglas Jordan was born on June 26, 1944 to Roy Elton and Bettie Lee Jordan in Hollywood, California. He was a happy boy and was affectionately called Sunny. Roy had a sweet and gentle personality with an awesome sense of humor. He loved God and his family and friends above all. He also loved making people laugh at any and all gatherings.

Roy attended Van Nuys High School, graduating in 1962. He worked as an announcer on a Christian radio station in Redding, California as well as working in construction building houses. He also attended Biola College until he was drafted into the Army on June 6, 1966. He went to Fort Ord for basic training and then to Okinawa for parachute training. Then it was on to Viet Nam. After returning home, he attended Multnomah School of the Bible, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Christian education.

Roy was a furniture salesman and then worked for Tri-Met for 22 years as a bus driver and then a fare inspector. It was a good career for him.

Roy had unquenchable passions for fishing, writing fishing stories, photography, carpentry, memorizing poetry and loved performing. The poems "The Cremation of Sam McGee" and "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" were his favorites.

After a long struggle, Roy entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 3, 2023 at the age of 78. His father, mother, and nephew Ben Jordan preceded him in death. He leaves behind his loving wife Debbie, sister Bettie, her husband Robert and their children Rob, Bettie Lee, Eric and Katie, brother Thom and his wife Liz and their daughter Rachel and niece Sarah and her family as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all.
