R. Ron Crane passed away Septmeber 6, 2018, of an apparent heart attack. Ron was born February 4, 1959, in Portland, Oregon. Son of Ralph and Evelyn Crane. Ralph and Evelyn later divorced. On February 19, 1968 Evelyn married Enos Earl Waddoups and Enos (Pop) raised Ron as his own. Ron joined two brothers Arthur James and Vernon Charles Crane. Ron attended school in Portland and graduated from David Douglas High School in May of 1977. He was a member of Boy Scouts Troop 105, he finished scouting as a Life Scout and as a member of the Order of the Arrow. Ron loved scouting and his Pop was his Scoutmaster. Ron served in the Army as a Spec. 4 for 3 years, but did not participate in any combat while he spent his service time in Germany. After being discharged honorably, he moved on to being a truck driver for work. On December 25, 1982 Ron married Doris Evens, however they later divorced and had no children together. Ron was a very hard worker and took a lot of pride in his working abilities, spending 17 years at Cherry Lane Mobile Park where he was a very valued and appreciated employee. He loved taking pictures and sharing those captured moments with people, he also collected different types of rocks and stone, sometimes even making jewelry from them. Being an avid outdoorsman, Ron loved camping and being around the campfire, telling stories to those that were listening as well as riding his sand buggy at Sand Lake. Over the years, he learned how long it took, or how many miles he could drive to heat a can of chili on the engine of his pickup.
Ron was preceded in by his Pop and his brother Vernon. Survivors include his mother Evelyn, brother Arthur, two uncles, Hewitt and Clarence Lispcomb, many cousins and close friends who will miss him very much.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 under the direction of Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland. A visitation will be held from 12:00pm with a procession lining up at 12:45pm to be escorted into Willamette National Cemetery where Military Honors will be remitted.
