Patrick John Kennedy was born on August 22,1925 to William and Elizabeth Kennedy and was baptized into the Roman Catholic faith. He passed away on December 4, 2013 in Gresham, Oregon. Patrick was born in Havre, Montana. He moved to Great Falls, Montana at seven years old and attended St. Thomas School. Patrick moved to Oregon when he was 17 years old and graduated from Carlton High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the South Pacific during World War ll until he was honorably discharged. In 1950 he joined the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
Patrick and Marcella Bergeron were married in June of 1948 and had three daughters. Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree from Lewis and Clark College and his master’s degree from the University of Portland. He taught a number of years in the Portland Public School district. After Patrick left teaching he worked selling educational material to school districts throughout Oregon.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. He is survived by daughters Kathleen Haslebacher of Silverton, Oregon, Rosemary (Paul) Westby, and Teresa (Glenn) Miller both of Portland, Oregon. Grandchildren, Nathan (Teresa) Miller, Melissa Miller, Arianne (David) Cakarnis, Sabrina (Shane) Sawyer, Lindsay (James) Caron, and Joseph Haslebacher. Also, great-grandchildren Quinn and Briggs.
For the last few years of his life Patrick was lovingly cared for in Pleasant Home adult foster care by honorary family member and caregiver, Mimi Infante. His healthcare was compassionately coordinated by Providence Elderplace in Gresham. Patrick was a wonderful, considerate, and loving father and will be greatly missed by his family.
