Pat was born in Osmond, Nebraska to Francis and Emma McLagan and grew up in Denver, Colorado. She moved to Oregon and settled in St. Helens where she raised her family. Pat was a stay at home mom while the children were young. She eventually took a job at the St. Helens Safeway as a checker, later transferring to the Jantzen Beach store. Pat retired from Safeway after 32 years with the company.
Pat was very active with her church, St. John Lutheran Church, and helped out wherever possible. She enjoyed spending time with family, whether it was at home, on one of the many trips to Lincoln City or Kah-NeeTa, or the annual birthday brunch at Mt. Hood. Cooking for large groups brought her great joy, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas when the house was bursting at the seams with family. She was an independent spirit who lit up the room everywhere she went and served as a great inspiration and role model to her family.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Vhonda Kindred; son, Mike Freytag; granddaughters, Kari Kindred and Michelle Nguyen; grandson, Spencer Freytag; great-granddaughter, Kaylann Singleton; great-grandson, Julian Nguyen; and brothers, Doug and Virgil McLagan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Emma McLagan; and by brothers, Clayton and Jim McLagan.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
