Monetta Dial

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon for Monetta Dial, who passed away with loving family at her side in Portland, age 105.

Monetta was born in 1918 in Arthur, Nebraska to Edward and Esther (Cullens) Decker. The family lived in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Missouri when Monetta was young, and she attended high school in Kansas City, Missouri. She met Paul Edward Dial in Kansas City as he was about to leave for Officer Candidate School, and they were married over 60 years until his passing in 2002.

Monetta worked as a cosmetics consultant with Estee Lauder, and with the company that became Nordstrom’s Best. She also worked as a real estate broker later in her life.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening and was known to be stubborn, opinionated, and sassy but also lovable, hardworking, tenacious, elegant, silly, witty, and a little wild, and always there for her family, whenever and wherever they needed her.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and as a role model for the women in her family.

She will be missed by her children Linda, Judy, and Janet; brother Audrey, grandchildren Melaney, Britt, Mike, Davey, and Robin; and by nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dial will be privately laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery with her husband Paul.
