care at 83 years of age.
Even as Marilyn’s health started to deteriorate she always had her positive
energy, love for her family and passion for her Oregon State Beavers, Dallas
Cowboys and Portland Trailblazers.
Marilyn was born in the state of Idaho. She was the middle of 5 children of RG
and Muriel Popham, and spent the rest of her life in Portland, Oregon. Marilyn
graduated from Jefferson high school in 1956.
Marilyn’s favorite places to visit were Black Butte Ranch, making many wonderful
memories with friends and family. She also loved going to Puerto Vallarta every
chance she got, enjoying new friends, margaritas and sunshine.
Marilyn was introduced to her future husband, Richard Jones, by her good friend
and Richard’s sister. They married Oct, 25th, 1957. Richard and Marilyn were
married until Dick’s passing in Sept of 1990.
Marilyn spent much of her time volunteering at her children’s schools on Mt.
Tabor, active on the PTA board and being a Camp Fire Leader many years. She
was also a counselor at Camp Nedaka. She volunteered with her voter’s precinct
and League of Women Voters. Marilyn also spent close to 15 years as an
Omsbudsman for the State of Oregon calling on nursing homes and retirement
centers to support the elderly.
After her girls went into high school she started working in the market research
field and was the manager for Gilmore Research.
When Marilyn’s grandkids became active in activities she loved to bake and cook
with them and attend every sporting event and program. Nothing brought her
more joy!
Predeceased by her husband Richard, parents RG and Muriel Popham, David
