Margaret Cary Long passed away on February 3, 2023, after a brief illness. Margaret was the eldest of 10 siblings born to Henry and Adeline Cary. Her early years were spent in Seattle, WA until the family relocated to California’s Santa Clara Valley. Margaret was the ultimate big sister and beloved auntie. She never missed honoring a birthday, anniversary or graduation.
Margaret graduated from Mother Butler High School in 1967. She later went on to complete her BS in Hotel Administration from UNLV. She lived most of her life in Nevada and that is where she met the love of her life, Roger Long. They were married from 1982 until his passing in 2007. In 2020, Margaret moved to Talent, OR to be closer to family. She loved her new environment and the ability to gather for holidays or a rivalrous game of canasta or Scrabble. She usually won.
To honor Margaret’s life, the family asks that you consider mirroring her past efforts by supporting your local library, community theater and your local public media source…mostly though, please extend her care and love towards children when they are the most fragile.
