Laura Houk, age 52, of Tigard, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. She was born on January 15, 1968, in Farmington, New Mexico. Her life changed forever in 1994 when the love of her life, Larry, proposed to her in their Tualatin apartment. Larry gave her a crystal flower vase full of lily's, assorted flowers and popped the question; she hesitated and, with a smile, said “Yes”! They were then off to Las Vegas to get married.
Laura loved many things, but most of all, she loved family and the holidays. Mother’s Day was her favorite, as the weather was warmer, the patio furniture came out of the garage, and spring was in the air. Christmas was probably the most cherished holiday, as it involved decorating, giving, and loving. Christmas was so big that she decorated 7 Christmas trees around the house. Her dedication to decorating for Christmas was only matched on Thanksgiving and the elaborate meal she and her Mom, Dad and Sister would prepare. Sharing and preparing a meal with those she loved are one of the many memories her family will always have in their hearts.
Laura loved to travel, anywhere on the Oregon coast especially Cannon Beach. Each summer she would meet with her parents to go camping and fishing. For the past several years, Laura and Larry would take a wintertime trip to Maui. Her favorite pastime was whale watching usually on the Trilogy catamaran in any weather. Surviving trips to Mt Hood in the winter and Las Vegas with her girlfriends was something she looked forward to often. A most memorable and recent trip was with Larry on an Alaskan cruise on their 25th wedding anniversary. The time they spent together hiking, enjoying beautiful vistas, watching sunsets, dolphins, and eagles are memories that will never fade.
Laura’s abounding love for her family, pets and natures beauty, formulated her love of life and hopefully enriched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her passion and unbridled love will live on forever in our hearts and memories.
Laura is survived by her loving husband Larry, and their beautiful daughter Allie.
